EarStep Terms of Service
Effective: October 1, 2026 · Version 1.0 · This is an English translation for convenience; the Korean version is the governing text.
Article 1 (Purpose)
These Terms set out the conditions and procedures for using EarStep ("the Service"), an English listening training app provided by Pracsol Inc. ("the Company"), and the rights and obligations of the Company and users.
Article 2 (Effect and changes)
- These Terms apply to everyone who installs the app and uses the Service.
- The Company may change these Terms within the limits of applicable law. Changes are announced in the app or on this page at least 7 days before taking effect (30 days for changes unfavorable to users). Continued use after the announcement constitutes acceptance of the changed Terms.
Article 3 (The Service)
- The Service provides English dialogue audio, comprehension checks, chunk-by-chunk dictation, re-learning of missed parts, and storage of learning records.
- The Service is used without sign-up; learning records are distinguished by an anonymous identifier created automatically per device. Records may not carry over if you delete the app or change devices.
- The Company may add, change or discontinue content, features and operating policies, and gives advance notice of significant changes.
Article 4 (Free use and advertising)
- All learning features are available free of charge.
- Free use may show a banner ad at the bottom of the screen and an interstitial ad after an episode is finished. No ads are shown during learning (listening or dictation).
- Ad content is determined by the ad provider (Google AdMob); the Company is not a party to transactions between advertisers and users.
Article 5 (Paid subscription — Ad-free listening)
- Users may purchase a monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription ("Subscription") to use the Service without ads. The Subscription only removes ads; learning features are the same as for free users.
- Subscription prices and payments are handled through the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google), at the price shown in each store. The Company does not receive payment details such as card numbers.
- Unless cancelled, the Subscription renews automatically at the end of each period on the same terms, and the renewal fee is charged to your store account within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Cancellation and renewal are managed in your store account settings (App Store Subscriptions, Google Play Subscriptions). Deleting the app does not cancel the Subscription.
- Refunds follow the refund policy and procedure of the store that processed the payment. The Company adjusts subscription entitlement after confirming the store's decision.
- Subscription status is based on verification by the store and the Company's server; while offline, the last verified entitlement remains valid for a limited period.
- On a new device with the same store account, use the app's "Restore purchases" feature to reconnect the Subscription.
Article 6 (User obligations)
Users must not:
- copy, distribute, transmit or resell the Service's content (audio, scripts, questions) or use it in other services without the Company's permission;
- reverse-engineer or modify the app, or circumvent ad or subscription verification;
- place abnormal load on the Service's servers or interfere with other users' use;
- violate applicable law or these Terms.
Article 7 (Intellectual property)
Copyright and other intellectual property rights in the Service and its content (scripts, audio, questions, design, software) belong to the Company or their rightful owners. Users may use the content only for personal learning.
Article 8 (Personal information)
The Company handles users' personal information in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
Article 9 (Suspension of the Service)
- The Company may temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance, failures, force majeure, or failures of third-party services (stores, ads, cloud), with advance notice where possible.
- If the Company terminates the Service, it gives 30 days' notice; treatment of any remaining subscription period follows store policies and applicable law.
Article 10 (Limitation of liability)
- The Service is a learning aid; the Company does not guarantee any test score or learning outcome.
- The Company is not liable for problems caused by the user's device or network, the accuracy of the operating system's speech recognition, or the user's own intent or negligence.
- Except in cases of the Company's willful misconduct or gross negligence, the Company is not liable for indirect, special or consequential damages arising from use of the Service. Limitations not permitted by applicable law do not apply.
Article 11 (Age)
The Service is intended for users aged 14 and over. Users under 14 may not use the Service without the consent of a legal guardian.
Article 12 (Governing law and disputes)
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes are first resolved through good-faith consultation between the Company and the user; failing that, they are brought before the court with jurisdiction under the Korean Civil Procedure Act.
Supplementary provision
These Terms take effect on October 1, 2026.
